Data is the fuel, AI is the engine. I design the architecture in between: serverless APIs, data lakes and quality checks that turn raw machine and financial data into something models can use.

I have a master’s degree in applied data science and five-plus years in high-stakes environments, from IoT machine data to banking. Outside work I explore AI, MCP, generative AI, innovation and tech in general.

I live in Monterrey, Mexico and write about data and AI at Shift2Data.

Experience

  1. Jun 2024 – present

    Embedded Product Analytics Engineer, Caterpillar Inc.

    • Migrated more than 100 TB of machine data from on-premise shared drives to Amazon S3: converted files to Parquet, stored their metadata in MySQL and automated the load with Python and AWS services.
    • Built an MCP server that lets AI agents query machine data.
    • Develop and maintain serverless APIs with AWS Lambda, Python and SQL that give internal systems access to machine data.
    • Provision and manage AWS resources consistently with CloudFormation.

  2. Apr 2023 – Jun 2024

    BBVA

    Data Engineer, BBVA

    • Configured internal tools for extracting, loading and transforming massive data into the corporate data lake.
    • Implemented data quality rules for ingested tables.
    • Orchestrated ingestion and quality jobs with Control-M.

  3. Jun 2022 – Mar 2023

    Data Technician, Bluetab, an IBM Company

    • Worked on the BBVA project configuring extraction, load and transformation tools and data quality rules.
    • Orchestrated jobs with Control-M and led onboarding and training for new members of the ingestion team.

    eltecon

    Automation Engineer, Eltecon Soluciones

    • Built Power BI dashboards for production data and internal web applications.
    • Designed and deployed custom automation for Ford, Tesla and BMW production lines.
    • Cut cost by 80% and time by 79% in custom connector manufacturing.

  5. Aug 2017 – Aug 2020

    Mechanical Design Engineer, IDIT Ibero Puebla

    • Led planning, mechanical design and fabrication of mechatronic prototypes, from concept to production.
    • Optimized CNC machining, saving 30% of cost and time.
    • Redesigned AGV tooling, reducing material costs by 20%.
